This image depicting the “dying Christ” is a drawing by my father inspired by a picture of Francesco Messina’s sculpture. ¶ Although I am not Catholic, it meant a lot to me as it is one of my earliest memories as a child. I remember my sister and I drove my mother mad playing among the various color jars scattered in the office of my father’s graphic / artistic laboratory. He worked hard drawing, and in the moments between one job and another he often reproduced a little piece, in the times when computers did not yet dominate. ¶ I have always admired his genuine talent. It was, without my full awareness at the time, an education and a natural transmission of skills for a job that I then learned to love, and I too began. ¶ Questa immagine sacra raffigurante il “Cristo morente” è un disegno di mio padre ripreso a sua volta da una foto della scultura di Francesco Messina. ¶ Nonostante io non sia cattolico ha significato molto per me, è stato uno dei primissimi ricordi che ho di quando ero bambino. Rammento io e mia sorella che facevamo dannare mia madre giocando tra i vari secchi di colori sparsi nell’ufficio laboratorio grafico/artistico di mio padre. Lui era di schiena che disegnava, e che nei momenti tra un lavoro e l’altro ne riproduceva un pezzettino, in tempi in cui i computer ancora non la facevano da padrone. ¶ Ho sempre ammirato il suo talento genuino. Fu senza averne piena consapevolezza a quel tempo, una scuola e un naturale passaggio di testimone per un lavoro che ho poi imparato ad amare e intrapreso anche io.
